Thunders Over Idle Land by R. F. Whong is an engaging story and plot. I enjoyed reading this book, especially the story of Jun set in the 1830’s. It was interesting to read about Jun’, and I kept turning pages to find out exactly who betrayed Jun and how his story would turn out. The author included some nice twists to Jun’s story. The modern-day story was also interesting, but it didn’t seem quite as engaging as the story from the past. Both narratives take place in Hong Kong, and I found it very interesting to learn how culture and language affects how people perceive the Christian gospel. The author has done a fine job of bringing these stories to life.
